News Flash

As Ben Franklin said: In wine there is wisdom, in beer there is freedom, in Water there is bacteria.

In a number of carefully controlled trials, scientists have demonstrated that if we drink 1 liter of water each day, at the end of the year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli, (E. coli) - bacteria found in feces. In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo of poop.

However, we do NOT run that risk when drinking wine & beer (or tequila, rum, whiskey or other liquor) because alcohol has to go through a purification process of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting.
Remember: Water = Poop, Wine = Health

Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid, than to drink water and be full of s**t.

There is no need to thank me for this valuable information: I'm doing it as a public service.

Lounging at the movies: Good, Bad and Ugly

Zodiac (2007)
This movie is about the Zodiac murders in California in the 60's and 70's. It follows the obsession of a newspaper cartoonist who just can't let it go. As the years pass and misplaced connections and evidence come together more clearly the cartoonist begins to go crazy trying to put a name to the murderer causing him to loose more than he had ever gained. A thumb and a nub up and a nod.

Hot Fuzz (2007)
We were expecting much more from Hot Fuzz. Not nearly as good as Shawn of the Dead and we turned it off to watch something else. Sorry, we wanted it to be good but the film had other ideas.

300 (2007)
Do you like fight scenes, war (the old fashion way)? and buff manly men up against insurmountable odds? Then 300 is for you. 300 is the story of 300 Spartans who desperately defend there native soil against a Sh*t Load of Persians and various other freaks. Filmed in high contrast, there is some great scenes.

Thelonious Monk: Straight No Chaser (1988)
Documentary about one of Americas great Jazz musicians. If you are a fan of music at all you will like this film. Back stage, family and studio footage. You will see John Coltrane and others. Nicely done!

Disturbia (2007)
A remake of Alfred Hitchcock's"Rear Window" with a modern twist. A young neighbor boy gets himself refined to his house via an ankle bracelet supplied by his town finest. Since he is stuck home he begins watching all his neighbors and the routines of the day. One neighbor is a hot chick and one maybe killing people. As his need to know deepens so does the story. 2 thumbs up.

Number 23 (2007)
Starring a scary Jim Carey who begins reading a book that sparks an obsession with numbers. His entire life is unfolding through the pages of the seemingly mad author. His obsession for the book and the number 23 turns coincidence into historical past. Or is it? Thought they could have ended it with much less predictability but worth a watch.

Fracture (2007)
A man kills his wife for infidelity and then begins to play the system to get off the murder charge. Did not care for it. 1 thumb down and a sleeping viewer.

Lounge Eats: German Potato Salad

9 potatoes, I do not peel them but you can if you like. Cut into potato salad sized chunks
8 slices of bacon
3/4 cup chopped onion
3 Tablespoons flour
2 tablespoons Sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1 table spoon whole mustard seed
1/2 teaspoon whole celery seed
1/8 teaspoon ground black pepper
3/4 cup Water
1/3 cup vinegar

Boil potatoes for about 25 minutes until cooked. Drain and set aside. While the potatoes are boiling fry up the bacon so it is crisp and brown. Remove the bacon and save the grease. Crumble or chop the cooked bacon and set aside.

Toss onion in bacon grease and sautee until they are brown and sweet. While the onions are sauteing mix together the flour, sugar, salt, celery seed, black pepper and mustard seed in a small bowl.

When the onions are ready stir the dry ingredients into the the onions and bacon grease. If it looks dry add butter and stir until it is bubbly.

Remove from heat and stir in the water, vinegar and crumbled bacon. Return to the heat and reheat. Pour this over your potatoes and gently mix together.
Your done.

Enjoy with a nice Bratwurst with some sour kraut and take a nap.

Notice:
A dyslexic man walks into a bra.
