How's The Cat:

A man goes on a 2-month business trip to Europe and leaves his cat with his brother. Three days before his return he calls his brother and asks how the cat is doing. The brother watching the cat replies " He's Dead!"

What do you mean He's Dead! I loved that cat. Couldn't
you think of a nicer way to tell me! I'm leaving in 3 days. You could of broke me to the news easier. You could of told me today that she got out of the house or something. Then when I called before I left you could of told me, Well, we found her but she is up on the roof and we're having trouble getting her down. Then when I call you from the airport you could of told me, The Fire Department was there and scared her off the roof and the cat died when it hit the ground.

The brother replies: "I'm sorry...you're right...that was insensitive I won't let it happen again."

Alright, alright, forget about it. Anyway, how is Mom doing?

The brother replies: She's up on the roof and we're having trouble getting her down.

Lounging at the movies: Serenity, Deuce Bigalow European Gigolo,
oooooooooooooooooo
40 Year Old Virgin and Under World 2

Serenity
We did not recognize any of the players although some seemed very familiar. Not to say it was not a really fun film to watch, science fiction is one of our favorite genres. The story begins with the crew of Serenity saving a girl named River from a laboratory who is experimenting on her brain. She has abilities beyond the normal crew member both mentally and physically and the laboratory wants her back in a bad kind of way. As if the crew does not have enough to worry about there are a bunch of Zombie like raiders who are like a fly in their ointment except they will eat you alive, literally.

Lots of great action fused with great writing to keep it light and even funny at points, we really enjoyed this movie and suggest checking it out. Three thumbs up and a nod and a wink with our glasses held high.

40 Year Old Virgin
Starring the guy from The Office. We put off seeing this film but must say we liked it. The guy from The Office works in a big stereo store and eventually it becomes clear that he has never, well the title pretty much covers it. His buddies at the store all chip in to help in get on track and the games begin. Some really funny situation comedy and characters that kept us laughing. Two thumbs up and a beer with chips.

Deuce Bigalow European Gigolo
Starring Rob Schneider and Eddie Griffin. We noticed this movie ended up on a lot of 'Worst Movie" lists from the critics. Not us, we loved it. Sex humor, dope humor, pain humor and awkward situation humor. It does not get much better than this. There is a scene with Eddie Griffin and a cat that had us on the floor. The film is about Deuce traveling to Europe to avoid trouble in the states and ends up being a 'Prostidude' because the local man whores are being killed. Juvenile and vulgar humor, a little something for everybody. Two thumbs up and a large pizza with extra cheese.

Underworld Evolution
Starring Kate Beckinsale and the guy from Felicity. The story continues as modern day Vampires fight the werewolves and they do it in tight leather pants, wink wink. Can not really remember why they are fighting but who cares. Lots of action, heads torn off, run over by trucks, flipped around like rag dolls and chopped up by helicopters. Dark and dangerous is the life of these guys and action is something that surfaces on a regular basis. Two thumbs up and a wink for Kate's leather pants.

Lounge Eats: Wild Rice and Chicken Soup

Hearty soup for the rest of the winter. You can use white rice as a substitute if you like.

1/2 cup butter
1 finely chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped celery
1/2 cup chopped carrots
1/2 pound fresh sliced mushrooms
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
6 cups chicken broth
2 cups cooked wild rice
1 pound boneless skinless
-- chicken breasts, cooked and cubed
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon curry powder
1/2 teaspoon mustard powder
1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
3 tablespoons dry sherry
2 cups half-and-half

Melt butter in a large saucepan over medium heat. Stir in the onion, celery and carrots and saute for 5 minutes. Add the mushrooms and saute for 2 more minutes. Then add the flour and stir well. Gradually pour in the chicken broth, stirring constantly, until all has been added. Bring just to a boil, reduce heat to low and let simmer.

Next, add the rice, chicken, salt, curry powder, mustard powder, parsley, ground black pepper and sherry. Allow to heat through, then pour in the half-and-half. Let simmer over low heat, do not boil, for 1 to 2 hours.
